About Me
Dr. Blankenau received her Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Nebraska in 1995, after she had earned her Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1984. After working for a few years as a family therapist in community agencies, she went back to school to complete her Doctorate degree in counseling psychology. She studied families to understand their communication patterns and how to utilize them to assist in identifying problems and solutions that arise in the normal developmental processes that most families experience. During her graduate studies, she also studied mental illness and emotional disturbances.
She has been in private practice in Lincoln, NE since 1995, starting with Behavioral Pediatric and Family Therapy before going into her own practice, Family Psychological Services, Inc. in 2004. She loves to work with a variety of people and issues, including with individual clients to help them deal with difficult mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, panic disorders and co-dependency issues. She has significant experience working with couples who are struggling with marital difficulties, change of life issues, infidelity, child-rearing issues and other challenges that can be difficult to resolve.
